WHAT YOU CAN DO THIS WEEK

Think about the things you often listen to–the music, shows, movies, social media, news, podcasts. Ask God to help you discern what messages they are saying to you, and how they are affecting your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Which messages are positive or productive, and which ones are not? Imagine what your life would be like if you listened to what God had to say more than anything else. Have a conversation with God about how you can better listen to what He has to say to you throughout the day.

The soundtrack of our world and culture is anxiety, depression, anger, and shame, telling us we’re unloved, unsafe, unworthy, and not secure. And if we only focus on our own thoughts, feelings, and insecurities, truth can easily be drowned out. This is not of God. We need to listen to Jesus. His soundtrack is his word, declaring we are seen, loved, valued, and safe. It’s time to change the track! But how do we do this? We have to actively listen. We focus on God’s soundtrack through His word, His people, and His worship. Philippians 4:8 says, “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” This is exactly what we are called to do.
