The Path to a Great Family

Show
me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Psalm
25:4 NLT

Follow God’s heart and not my own

“The human heart is the most
deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked.  Who really knows how bad it is? Jeremiah
17:9 NLT

Listen to God’s heart on:

Don’t team up with those who are
unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light
live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How
can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? 2 Corinthians 6:14 NLT

God wants me to be picky

Then the LORD God said, “It is not
good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
So the LORD God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds
of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the
man chose a name for each one. He gave names to all the livestock, all the
birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just
right for him.  Genesis 2:18-20 NLT

God wants me to be patient

So the LORD God caused the man to
fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the LORD God took out one of the
man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the LORD God made a woman from the
rib, and he brought her to the man. “At last!” the man exclaimed. Genesis
2:21-23 NLT

It’s better to be lonely than with a
loser

“For I hate divorce!” says the LORD, the
God of Israel. “To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty,” says
the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your
wife.” Malachi
2:16 NLT

God wants me to change my heart, not
my partner

Direct
your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave
it. Proverbs
22:6 NLT

God wants me to parent by being the:

These older women must train the younger
women to love their husbands and their children, Titus 2:4 NLT

“Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God,
the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all
your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly
to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to
your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the
road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your
hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders.  9 Write them on the doorposts of your house
and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9

God wants me to guide them to him

My church can only help me teach my kids
about God when I bring them

Discipline your children while
there is hope. Otherwise you will ruin their lives. Proverbs 19:18 NLT

I have to love my kids enough to bear
them not liking me

Fathers, don’t exasperate your children
by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of
the Master. Ephesians 6:4 MSG

My son, pay attention to my
wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel. Proverbs 5:1 NLT

I must be wise about when I
counsel my adult children

I must be careful when I counsel
my adult children
