Asking God for the Miracle I Need

The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him. JOHN 2:1-11 NLT

Because of Jesus…

I can ask for anything I need

“Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” JOHN 2:4 NLT

What does Mary know about her son that you don’t?

The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” JOHN 2:3 NLT

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. EPHESIANS 5:2 NLT

And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. … 1 PETER 1:17 NLT

There are no such things as silly prayers

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:19 NLT

I can ask for a miracle no matter where I am

The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, JOHN 2:1 NLT

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. MATTHEW 7:8-11 NLT

I do not promise you the miracle you want, But Jesus will always give you the miracle you need

I can ask for a miracle for anyone

The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, JOHN 2:1 NLT

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 1 TIMOTHY 2:1 NLT

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. MATTHEW 5:44-45 NLT

I can ask for a miracle no matter the time

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. EPHESIANS 3:20 NLT

It is never too late to Ask Jesus for a miracle

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. ECCLESIASTES 3:11 NLT

… I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2 NIV

My Notes

Personal Reflection Guide

Find a quiet place that allows you to become still in your feelings and thoughts. Go for a walk if you sense this would help you to focus on God and what He has to say to you. Commit the time to God for Him to use it for His purposes. Take a few deep breaths, and when you are ready, think about an area of your life in which you sense a need for God’s miraculous help. Picture what His help would look like in meeting your need? What are your feelings and thoughts as you picture this? Pray for His help and thank Him for what He will do because you prayed and He loves you. If you are struggling to feel God’s love for you, ask Him to give you a reminder of just how extensively He loves you. Are there any moments or memories that God brings up as you ask? Thank Him for these now. Next, consider those in your life; ask God to impress upon you someone who needs Him to work in their life in a miraculous way, and begin praying for them regularly. Close your time by thanking and praising Him for how He has miraculously worked in your life, so far, in changing you into the person you are today. Pray that He will enable you to cooperate with Him as He continues to work miracles in your life and enables you to finish well, even in the area you identified above as needing a miracle (Phillipians 1:6). Thank Him for this time together, writing your reflections in the space below, and sharing with your community group if you feel comfortable.
