Singing God’s truth
Let
us find a good musician to play the
harp whenever the tormenting
spirit troubles you. He will play soothing
music, and you will soon be well again.” One of the servants said to Saul, “One of Jesse’s sons from Bethlehem is
a talented harp player. Not only
that—he is a brave warrior, a man of war, and has good judgment. He is also a
fine-looking young man, and the LORD
is with him.” And whenever the tormenting
spirit from God troubled Saul, David would play the harp. Then Saul would feel better, and the tormenting spirit would go away. 1 SAMUEL 16:16, 18, 23 NLT
God uses his music to strengthen my spirit

music you listen to can draw you close to God and calm you, or push you

Speaking God’s truth
So
the LORD sent Nathan the prophet to tell David this story: “There were two men
in a certain town. One was rich, and one was poor. The
rich man owned a great many sheep and cattle. The poor man owned
nothing but one little lamb he had bought. He raised that little lamb, and it
grew up with his children. It ate from the man’s own plate and drank from his
cup. He cuddled it in his arms like a baby daughter. One
day a guest arrived at the home of the rich man. But instead of killing an
animal from his own flock or herd, he took the poor man’s lamb and killed it
and prepared it for his guest.” David was furious. “As surely as the
LORD lives,” he vowed, “any man who would do such a thing deserves to die! He
must repay four lambs to the poor man for the one he stole and for having no
pity.” Then Nathan said to David, “You are that man! 2 SAMUEL 12:1-7 NLT
God
uses preaching to point me back to truth
For the word of God is alive and powerful.
It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and
spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and
desires. HEBREWS 4:12 NLT
