It’s fun
to watch the waves, it’s another thing to be in the waves.
Waves are scary because they
forcefully move you
Waves are dangerous because they
pound you
“The waves
of death overwhelmed me; floods of destruction swept over me. The grave wrapped
its ropes around me; death laid a trap in my path. But in my distress I cried
out to the LORD; yes, I cried to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary;
my cry reached his ears… He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me
out of deep waters. 2 SAMUEL 22:5-7,17
NLT
Being overwhelmed by waves is an
opportunity to be rescued by God
You rule
the oceans. You subdue their storm-tossed waves. PSALM 89:9 NLT
The most dangerous waves are the
ones I can’t see
So we
must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away
from it. HEBREWS 2:1 NLT
Don’t let
me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in
the delicacies of those who do wrong. PSALM
141:4 NLT
Life will send storms but God sent
the anchor
Then
Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and
I will give you rest. MATTHEW 11:28 NLT
It is
impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have
great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a
strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain
into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. HEBREWS 6:17-20 NLT
Who do I know that needs an
anchor?
Jesus
traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the
synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every
kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them
because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. MATTHEW 9:35-36 NLT
