Night of Prayer

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV

“My people who are called by my name…”

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9 ESV

For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you. 1 Thessalonians 1:4 ESV

Let’s Pray:

Lord remind us that your name is written on our hearts. We are fully known and completely loved. Help us pray in Jesus name.

When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus… 1 Corinthians 5:4 ESV

“Humble themselves, and pray and seek my face…”

And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6 NLT

Let’s Pray:

Lord help me to humble myself, so that I don’t have to be humbled by you. I need you every day in everything. In all that I do. In this moment we turn from ourselves and we turn to you. We pray this is Jesus’ name.

“And turn from their wicked ways…”

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. 1 John 1:8-10 NLT

Let’s Pray:

God we confess our sin to you publicly. We turn from our sin and turn to you. Please forgive us of our sins. God help me to see any sin in this moment that I need to confess to you privately.  We pray this in Jesus name.

I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake. 1 John 2:12 ESV

“Then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. James 5:14 ESV

Let’s Pray:

Lord we pray for all our health care professionals who are working so hard to keep us well. Bless them and keep them safe.

Lord we pray for our scientists who are working so hard on a vaccine!

Lord we pray for everyone’s financial health, that you would provide for them in miraculous ways.

Lord we pray for all of our governors, our president and all the leaders of the world. We ask that you to give them guidance and wisdom as they make difficult but necessary decisions.

Lord you are almighty. We ask that you deliver us from sickness and that you defeat COVID-19. That you would use this crisis to remind us of our need for you, and that as you do wonders and miracles we would be reminded of your power and that we would return to worship as we should.

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” ROMANS 10:13 ESV

My Notes

Personal Reflection Guide

Take some time to be alone with the Lord. Enter into that time knowing that you are one of the Lord’s people, that he knows you perfectly and loves you fully. Sit with that for a moment. What does stir in you? How does that draw you towards him? Next, open up a conversation with the Lord about how you’re responding in this seasoned crisis. What are you reaching for in this time? Is it leading you away from or drawing you towards the Lord? Name it and identify its harmfulness or helpfulness in your walk with the Lord. Finally, what steps do you need to take to pursue the Lord more fully in this season. How are you willing to allow this crisis to draw you into a greater pursuit of the Lord? What steps can you take today, right now even, as you turn away from harmful choices and turn towards the Lord? Commit those things to him. Then share them with someone you trust. Pray and ask the Lord to strengthen this decision in order to create resolve in you.
