Luke 13: How to Experience the Healing Power of Jesus

252 – Luke 13: How to Experience the Healing Power of
Jesus

When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and
they begged him to touch the man and heal him. esus took the blind man by the hand and led
him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, he laid his hands on
him and asked, “Can you see anything now?” The
man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly.
They look like trees walking around.” Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened.
His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly. MARK 8:22-26 NLT

In
order to heal I must learn to be real

The truth will set you free! JOHN 8:32 ESV

Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a
few be saved?” He replied, “Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s
Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail.” LUKE 13:23-24 NLT

Following
Jesus

is about learning to be real with myself, God and others

Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature
and in favor with God and all the people. LUKE
2:52 NLT

Those who say they live in God should
live their lives as Jesus did. 1 JOHN 2:6
NLT

As
I follow Jesus I will learn to become…

Real
with Myself

Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full
of greed and self-indulgence! You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the
cup and the dish, and then the
outside will become clean, too. MATTHEW
23:25 NLT

Jesus cares more about what’s
happening in me than around me!

Why
aren’t we more aware of what’s happening in us?

We
don’t practice self reflection

Let us test and examine our ways. LAMENTATIONS 3:40 NLT

Behold, you delight in truth in the
inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. PSALM 51:6 ESV

We
are overly focused on others

Why do you see the speck that is in
your brother’s eye, but do not
notice the log that is in your own eye?
Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your
own eye? You hypocrite, first
take the log out of your own eye,
and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. MATTHEW 7:3-5 NLT

Real
with God

The LORD is near to all who call on
him, to all who call on him in truth.
PSALM 145:18 NLT

If
we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the
truth.  But if we confess our sins to
him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
wickedness. 1 JOHN 1:8-9 NLT

Being
real isn’t about feeling bad, it’s about learning to feel love

Real
with Others

Confess your sins to one another and
pray for one another, that you may be healed.   JAMES
5:16 ESV

This is a trustworthy saying, and
everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” —and I am the worst of them
all. 1 TIMOTHY 1:15 NLT

Sandals
Church is a safe place to become real

How beautiful are the feet of those
who preach the good news! ROMANS 10:15
ESV
