In Pursuit of Belief

And
it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him
must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NLT

What I Believe
Matters

That
Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were
afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them!
“Peace be with you,” he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his
hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he
said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Then
he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s
sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), was not with the
others when Jesus came. They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied,
“I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers
into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.” Eight days later the
disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors
were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be
with you,” he said. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at
my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any
longer. Believe!” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told
him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe
without seeing me.” John 20:19-29 NLT

My Belief Determines:

How
I Live My Life

The wicked are too proud to seek God.
They seem to think that God is dead.
Psalm 10:4 NLT

The wicked think, “God isn’t watching us!
He has closed his eyes and won’t even see what we do!” Psalm 10:11 NLT

Where
I’m Headed When I Die

A wise person thinks a lot about death,
while a fool thinks only about having a good time. Ecclesiastes 7:4 NLT

“For God loved the world so much that he
gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish
but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world,
but to save the world through him. “There is no judgment against anyone who
believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged
for not believing in God’s one and only Son. John 3:16-18 NLT

Jesus Cares About
What I Believe

One
day Jesus left the crowds to pray alone. Only his disciples were with him, and
he asked them, “Who do people say I am?
“Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and
others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Then he asked them, “But who do
you say I am?” Simon Peter answered,
“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Mathew 16:14-16 & Luke 9:18 NLT

Jesus Calls Me to
Believe in Him

“Don’t
let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. John 14:1 NLT

When
he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do
you believe that I am able to do
this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” Matthew
9:28 NLT

Jesus
told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has
sent. John 6:29 NLT

The
world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. John 16:9 NLT

Jesus Helps Me in
My Unbelief

“How long has this been happening?” Jesus
asked the boy’s father. He replied, “Since he was a little boy. The spirit
often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on
us and help us, if you can.”
“What
do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person
believes.”
The
father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my
unbelief!”
Mark 9:21-24 NLT

Think
about what I am saying. The Lord will help you understand all these things. 2 Timothy 2:7 NLT

Jesus Calls Me to
Believe Publicly

Everyone
who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my
Father in heaven. But everyone who
denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 NLT

I Publicly State
My Belief in Jesus Through Baptism

Peter’s
words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles,
“Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of
your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and
added to the church that day. Acts 2:37-41
