Don’t Miss Jesus

Christmas in India: Don’t Miss
Jesus

This is how Jesus the Messiah was
born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the
marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through
the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not
want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him
in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take
Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy
Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name
him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” MATTHEW 1:18-21 NLT

We miss Jesus because he

Is truly miraculous

While she was still a virgin, she
became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit MATTHEW 1:18 NLT

All right then, the Lord himself will
give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth
to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). ISAIAH 7:14 NLT

Jesus looked at them intently and
said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible.
But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” MARK 10:27 NLT

Messes with my plans

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If
any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and
follow me. MATTHEW 16:24 NLT

The LORD will work out his plans for my life. PSALMS 138:8 NLT

You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will
prevail. PROVERBS 19:21 NLT

Makes
me aware of my sin

And she will have a son, and you are
to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” MATTHEW 1:18 NLT

Then he added, “Now go and learn the
meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’
For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who
know they are sinners.” MATTHEW 9:13 NLT

Calls me to change the world by sharing
God’s love

God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only
Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.  This is real love—not that we loved God,
but that he loved us and sent
his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 JOHN 4:9-10 NLT

My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of
Christ has never been heard… ROMANS 15:20
